Crowns and bridges in Parow
Crowns
A crown is a full, natural-looking cap that covers and protects a tooth that is badly broken, heavily filled or root-canal treated. Your tooth is prepared, a mould is sent to the dental laboratory, and a temporary crown protects it in the meantime. Your final crown is ready in about 5 to 7 business days and is matched to the teeth beside it.
When there is not enough tooth left to hold a crown, a post and core rebuilds the tooth from the inside first.
Bridges
A bridge replaces a missing tooth by anchoring a natural-looking false tooth to the teeth on either side. It is fixed in place, so there is nothing to remove at night. Fibre-reinforced bridges offer a more conservative option for front teeth, while laboratory-made bridges are used for back teeth.
A crown, bridge or veneer that has come loose can often be cemented back in place. For patients interested in implants, Dr Grace refers to a trusted implant dentist.

Patients often ask
Can my old metal or gold crown be replaced?
Yes. It can be replaced with a tooth-coloured crown once the tooth underneath has been assessed. You are welcome to keep your gold.
Bridge or implant?
Both are good options. Dr Grace explains which suits your mouth and budget, and refers you for an implant if that is your choice.
